A Call To Radical Transformation, Holiness And True Repentance
There is a difference between professing Christ and truly following Christ. In a generation where many people can confidently say, "I am born again," it is important to pause and examine what that confession has produced in their lives. Salvation is not merely a moment of raising a hand in church, repeating a prayer, or responding to an altar call. It is the beginning of a transformed life and a continuing journey of surrender to Jesus Christ.
The question, therefore, is not simply, "Did you once accept Jesus?" but, "Is my life being changed by Jesus?"
Genuine faith should gradually affect our desires, decisions, relationships, attitudes, speech, private habits, and response to sin.
A person who has encountered Christ should increasingly desire what pleases God and become uncomfortable with the things that contradict His Word. This does not mean that a believer becomes instantly perfect or never faces temptation. Rather, it means that sin is no longer something they willingly make peace with.
The Christian life also requires honesty. It is possible to be active in church, participate in prayer meetings, quote Scripture, sing worship songs, and still have areas of the heart that have never truly been surrendered to God.
Outward religious activity can never replace inward transformation. Jesus is not looking merely for people who know how to speak Christian language; He desires people whose lives bear evidence that they belong to Him.
This is why every believer needs to examine their life from time to time. What has changed since you encountered Christ? Has your attitude toward sin changed? Has your desire for God increased?
Are you becoming more truthful, more forgiving, more prayerful, more disciplined, and more willing to obey God's Word? Or have you simply learned how to appear spiritual while secretly holding on to the same things Christ is calling you to surrender?
The journey of salvation involves repentance, discipleship, spiritual growth, sanctification, and continual dependence on God's grace. It also requires courage to confront uncomfortable truths about ourselves. Sometimes the greatest spiritual breakthrough begins when we stop defending our weaknesses and honestly bring them before God.
This message is therefore not intended merely to challenge someone else. It is an invitation for every believer to look inward and ask a serious question: Does my life genuinely reflect the Christ I profess?
As you read, do not read only to identify the faults of other people. Read with an open heart. Allow God's Word to examine your motives, desires, relationships, habits, and decisions. Where there is sin, may there be genuine repentance. Where there is spiritual weakness, may there be renewed strength. Where there is lukewarmness, may there be a fresh hunger for God.
Because genuine salvation is not merely a confession made with the lips. It is a life that is continually being transformed by Christ.
THE MIRROR OF TRANSFORMATION
DANIEL’S JOURNEY FROM RELIGION TO REALITY
Daniel was a young Christian brother who had been active in church for several years. He attended services regularly, joined prayer meetings, participated in evangelism, and was known among the brethren as someone who loved God. Whenever there was an altar call, Daniel was usually among those who came forward to pray.
He sincerely believed that he was born again, and nobody around him had much reason to question his confession.
THE HIDDEN BATTLE
However, there was a private battle in Daniel's life that very few people knew about. He struggled with pornography, lust, anger, and occasional dishonesty.
He would feel guilty after falling into these things, pray intensely, promise God that he would never return to them, and then eventually find himself repeating the same pattern. His public life looked spiritual, but his private life was becoming increasingly difficult to control.
Daniel often told himself, "I am still a Christian. Everybody has weaknesses. God understands me." Whenever someone preached about holiness and genuine transformation, he would feel uncomfortable, but after the service he would return to his normal routine.
THE TURNING POINT
One Sunday, his pastor preached a message that deeply challenged him. The pastor said, "Being born again is not merely confessing Christ with your mouth. It means allowing Christ to transform your life."
Those words followed Daniel home.
That night, he sat alone in his room and began to examine his life honestly. He asked himself a question he had avoided for years: "If someone followed me privately for one month, would they see the life of Jesus in me?"
For the first time, Daniel did not try to defend himself. He began remembering the things he had hidden: the pornography, the lies he had told, the inappropriate conversations, the anger he carried, the secret habits nobody knew about, and the way he sometimes presented himself as spiritually stronger than he really was.
He opened his Bible and read 2 Corinthians 5:17:
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Daniel became quiet.
He realized that his problem was not that he had never heard the gospel. His problem was that he had become comfortable with confessing Christ without allowing Christ to confront his character.
CONFRONTING THE HABITS
The following week, Daniel made a decision. He would stop hiding behind his church activities and begin dealing honestly with his spiritual condition. He sought counsel from a mature Christian leader, became more intentional about prayer and Bible study, and began removing things that repeatedly pushed him toward temptation.
The change did not happen overnight. There were difficult days. There were moments when his old desires returned strongly, but instead of surrendering to them and pretending nothing had happened, Daniel learned to bring his struggles into the light and seek accountability.
He also began examining his relationships. He had been involved with a Christian sister, and although they claimed they were preparing for marriage, their relationship was constantly crossing boundaries. They justified certain physical affection as "holy romance," but Daniel knew they were allowing lust to grow.
He eventually told her, "If we genuinely want to honour God, we must establish boundaries that protect both of us."
It was not an easy conversation. She was offended at first, but Daniel remained firm. He understood that genuine love should not deliberately lead another person into temptation.
THE COST OF HONESTY
As the months passed, something began changing inside him. He no longer wanted to appear holy before people while secretly living differently. He developed a stronger hatred for the things that once controlled him. Prayer became less of a religious activity and more of a genuine relationship with God.
Daniel also confronted another problem: lying.
He had previously told small lies to protect himself, avoid embarrassment, or make himself look better. He once believed that some lies were too insignificant for God to care about. But as his understanding of holiness grew, he began taking truth seriously.
One day, he discovered that a lie he had told months earlier had affected another person. Instead of covering it with another explanation, Daniel went back and admitted the truth. It was embarrassing, but he chose honesty over reputation.
That experience taught him something important: truth sometimes costs you your pride, but lies eventually cost you much more.
A NEW DIRECTION
Daniel's life did not suddenly become perfect. He still had weaknesses, temptations, and areas where he needed growth. But there was now a clear difference. He was no longer defending his sins. He was fighting them. He was no longer comfortable living a double life. He wanted his private life to agree with his public confession.
Years later, when Daniel looked back, he realized that the greatest change was not that he had become perfect. The greatest change was that he had stopped treating sin as a normal part of his Christian identity.
He understood that genuine salvation produces a new direction. A believer may stumble, but he should not make peace with sin. A Christian may face temptation, but he should learn to depend on God's grace and pursue holiness.
Daniel's story became a warning to him and an encouragement to others: church attendance alone cannot transform a person. Religious language cannot replace genuine repentance. Repeatedly saying "I am born again" cannot substitute for a life that is continually being surrendered to Christ.
The question is not simply, "Did you once confess Jesus?"
The deeper question is, "Is Jesus changing the way you live today?"
Daniel learned that true Christianity is not about creating an impressive appearance before people. It is about allowing God to transform the heart, the desires, the decisions, the relationships, the words, and the private life.
His journey taught him that salvation should produce evidence:
- Not perfection, but transformation.
- Not a claim without change, but a life increasingly surrendered to Christ.
WALKING IN HOLINESS: Practical Evidences Of A Changed Life
Today, can you please take account of your life?
Is there anything in your life that is not seen in the life of Jesus?
Friends, until our desires change from worldliness to godliness and our life from the flesh to that of Jesus, we are not saved yet.
To be born again is to be a new person. What we used to do before, we do them no more!
Sir, I know you have been in this community with us for months, but I want you to understand that any man who is totally saved will be free from the bondage of sexual sin.
It is written and I quote:
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." — 1 John 3:8
If you confessed Jesus for a million times, but yet, what is seen in you are works of the flesh, then your salvation is not genuine at all.
Many cry repeatedly, giving their life on Sunday, but picking it up again on Monday.
Sir, may I inform you that a man who claims to be born again and is still watching pornography will surely go into his sinful vomit.
Ma'am, it is obvious that such a person hasn't encountered the power of sanctification. When you encounter Christ, it is like being hit by an incoming heavy truck because every adamic nature in you will be shattered.
Sir, after acceptance of Christ, don't remain in the kindergarten Bible school of salvation, but rather make every attempt to be promoted to the school of brokenness and sanctification.
The person should go for discipleship and training to control and overcome temptations.
Friends, born again is beyond confession. It is living the life you confessed.
That little weakness of yours that you are not paying attention to will rubbish all your labor, no matter the years that you have put in.
That little anger, pride, lie... that little is enough to make you cross to eternal separation from God.
Friends, now listen:
The only person you are permitted to kiss is your wife or husband.
Can you kiss that sister or brother before your pastor?
Whatsoever you cannot do in the public, don't do it in private. It is a sin!
My sister, how can a man turn your temple to a place of testing and sampling?
Testing a lady or brother through fornication before marriage destroys the home and endangers the life of both of them. It is a crumbled foundation that will not last the test of time. Sex before marriage will drive God away from your home.
The danger of holy romance is that it leads to trouble, not only into sex, but the corrupting of their temple in sexual lust.
And they may even end up yielding to secret habits to satisfy their lust.
Fondling and stimulating your body with the same hands meant for anointing has become an instrument for impurity.
Friends, I am still talking to you:
- What are you doing now that is not found in the life of Jesus?
- What is that attitude in us that is so strange to what you see in the Bible?
- Is there anything in your life that God condemns but you are still doing?
Remember there is no forgiveness after death, no mercy once you close your eyes. May I request we all go to God and examine our lives today.
Brethren, will you allow these attitudes (anger, bad language, worldly entertainment, pornography, impurity, strife, malice)—these attitudes you call "little"—will they take you down the path of destruction?
Many youths are not ready to submit to biblical standards, showing no traceable evidence of them knowing Jesus.
- Holy romance is their calling.
- Flirtatious affection is the only standard they practice.
- Brotherly love is their watchword, yet purity is absent.
- Prayer life —Zero.
- Fasting — Zero.
You told him no sex before marriage. You told him men ought to pray and not to faint, but all his desire is to pressure you into compromise.
My dear, that man will soon break your heart at the altar of sexual immorality.
Sir, Ma'am... Any man or woman who cannot submit to biblical standards is the worst to marry.
If you are in any relationship and the man hates scripture that rebukes him of sin, or the lady says the Bible has no practical meaning for modern times, my beloved, you are building on a faulty foundation. Run for your life!
THE ACT OF DECEPTION
You know you will not marry that person, yet you keep leading them on with false promises. If you continue in deliberate deception, you will not see Jesus unless you repent.
Friends, do you know that many of us like to deceive people?
- We say what we don't mean.
- We mean what we don't say.
It is quite unfortunate that many Christians, even leaders, tell lies. Even on God's altar, fabrications are spoken.
It is written and I quote:
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." — Revelation 21:8
Friends, may I inform you, God is far away from liars.
When lies are found in your mouth, God's presence is grieved.
"Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds." — Colossians 3:9
Many will say they come in the name of the Lord and begin to use spiritual platforms to exploit people. A lie is a sin, and there is no such thing as a harmless lie.
When you commit a sin deliberately, you break fellowship with God.
Beloved, may I encourage you today to go and do any restitution that is possible for you to do. God is a God of absolute truth.
He will not compromise His standard. He said all liars will face the consequences of unrepented sin.
My dear, when you are saved, you will be ready to lose anything, including your life, rather than tell a lie. A major proof that you are born again is the loss of appetite for falsehood.
When a man lies, he needs more lies to cover his tracks, but truth needs no cover-up. It is a sobering reflection on our generation, even among those leading us:
- When people teach untruths and call it worldly wisdom.
- When people manipulate ages or documents.
- When you lie to your parents, friends, or spouse.
- When you cover up your actual whereabouts with deception.
It is better we ask for God's help right now.
The truth is that Jesus is ready to show us mercy if we can repent, turn away from deceit, and start a new life.
Please, it is time to bury every spiritual sluggishness and lukewarmness and start burning in prayer.
CONCLUSION
A genuine believer is not identified merely by words, religious activities, or public confession. The evidence of genuine faith is seen in a life that is increasingly being transformed by Christ.
You may still face temptation. You may sometimes stumble. You may have weaknesses that God is still working on. But there should be a growing desire for holiness, truth, obedience, prayer, God's Word, and a life that honours Jesus.
Being born again means entering a new life with Christ. It means allowing Him to change your desires, character, priorities, relationships, and choices.
Therefore, do not only ask, "Did I give my life to Jesus?"
Ask yourself, "Is my life being surrendered to Jesus?"
The answer should lead you to deeper repentance, stronger faith, greater obedience, and a renewed commitment to follow Christ every day.
As a new day approaches, make a decision to grow spiritually. Let your prayer life become stronger. Let your commitment to God's Word become deeper. Let your character become more Christlike.
Pray sincerely:
"Father, baptize me with the fire of revival. Renew my heart, strengthen my faith, purify my desires, and help me live a life that truly represents Jesus Christ. Amen."
