An Anointed Voice With An Unholy Heart
There are stories that shake the church. Stories that force us to sit down, hold our chest, and ask ourselves, “God, how did we get here?” This is one of them.
It is not the story of an unbeliever. Not the story of a cultist. Not the story of a street boy fighting addiction. It is the story of a man who held the microphone with passion, a man whose voice could make a congregation cry, a man who preached holiness with fire, and a man who laid hands on people and they fell under power.
But behind his anointing was a darkness he never conquered. Behind his boldness was a lust he never killed. Behind his sermons was a secret appetite that grew like cancer. He was on fire on stage, but in the secret place, he was drowning.
He preached Jesus in the day, but pursued young girls in the night. He taught purity but lived in impurity. He commanded demons to come out, yet he couldn’t command his flesh to shut up.
He would hold the mic with passion, sweat pouring down his face, fire in his eyes, shouting, “REPENT!” But the same night, he would be in a corner room, touching what God told him not to touch.
He was given young girls to mentor spiritually, but he touched them sexually. He impregnated them and gave them money to end the pregnancies. He killed destinies while preaching salvation.
He laid hands on members but laid hands on girls in private. The same mouth that spoke in tongues was the same mouth he used to commit filth. The same hands he lifted to heaven were the hands he used to unzip what should have remained zipped.
He became a contradiction. He became a danger. He became a warning.
Eventually, everything came out.
The secrets. The abortions. The shame. The girls. The accusations. The truth.
And suddenly, the same people who once clapped for him began to whisper, “What a waste.” “What a shame.” “How did he fall like this?”
But the truth is this:
He did not fall in one day.
He fell in his heart long before his body followed. He fell privately long before he fell publicly.
Lust had been living inside him for years, but he thought preaching would cover it. He thought anointing could hide it. He thought laying hands on others could silence that inner battle.
But lust grows. Lust hides. Lust disguises. Lust pretends. Lust waits.
And when lust is not confronted, it eventually destroys everything a man is building.
LUST IS NO RESPECTER OF ANOINTING
Some ministers think power is the same as purity. They think charisma is the same as character. They think crowd approval is the same as heaven’s approval.
But listen carefully.
Lust does not care if you can preach. Lust does not care if you can sing. Lust does not care if people fall when you pray. Lust does not care if you appear holy on stage.
Lust does not care if you wear a suit, collar, cassock, or robe. Lust does not fear your microphone. Lust fears your discipline.
Lust does not respect your gift. Lust respects your consecration.
Lust does not bow to your public holiness. Lust bows only to your private holiness.
You can fake tongues. You can fake prophecy. You can fake tears at the altar. But you cannot fake purity.
And the painful truth is this: many ministers today are falling, not because the devil is too strong, but because their flesh has never been crucified.
Every addiction you refuse to kill will kill your ministry.
Every secret sin you tolerate will one day disgrace you publicly.
Every lust you cuddle privately will one day embarrass you on the same altar you preach from.
This is why the issue of lust must not be treated as a small personal weakness. For someone in ministry, especially someone entrusted with the spiritual care of other people, unchecked lust can become destructive. It can affect judgment, relationships, credibility, leadership, families, and the lives of vulnerable people who trust the minister.
The microphone may make a person visible, but visibility does not automatically produce integrity. A person can stand before thousands and still be losing a private battle that nobody knows about.
The real question is not simply, “Can you preach?”
The deeper question is, “Who are you when nobody is watching?”
THE MIC IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY
In our generation, people hold the mic too quickly. They don’t go through process. They don’t go through pruning. They don’t go through death of the flesh.
Some men want spotlight, but they don’t want sanctification. Some want followers, but they don’t want brokenness. Some want spiritual sons and daughters, but they don’t want spiritual discipline.
But the truth remains: if your flesh is louder than your spirit, you have no business holding a microphone.
If your trousers cannot stay zipped, your hands have no right touching the holy altar. If you cannot keep your eyes pure, you cannot keep the church pure. If you cannot conquer yourself, you cannot lead anybody else to victory.
The microphone is not merely an object. In ministry, it represents influence, responsibility, visibility, and trust. When you hold it, people listen to you. Some people believe you. Some people follow your example. Some people open their hearts to your counsel.
That is why character must come before influence.
A man may be gifted, but gifting does not remove the need for discipline. A woman may be anointed, but anointing does not give permission to compromise. A preacher may have thousands of followers, but followers do not excuse secret disobedience.
The higher the influence, the greater the responsibility.
BEFORE YOU HOLD THE MIC, HOLD YOURSELF
Every minister must pass three tests.
TEST OF THE EYES
Can you look at someone attractive and still maintain purity?
The eyes are often the doorway through which temptation begins. What you repeatedly look at can eventually influence what you desire. A minister must learn not only to preach to other people about purity but also to guard his own eyes.
TEST OF THE HANDS
Can you keep your body under subjection?
The hands must not become instruments of what the heart knows is wrong. Ministry requires boundaries. Mentoring requires boundaries. Counseling requires boundaries. Spiritual leadership requires boundaries.
TEST OF THE HEART
Can you remain faithful when nobody sees you?
The private life of a minister is not a suggestion. It is the foundation of everything God builds through him.
A man who has not conquered lust will eventually disgrace his calling. A man who cannot control his desires will eventually bring tears to those he leads. A man who is holy on stage but filthy in secret is a danger to the body of Christ.
Before you stand before people, first stand before your mirror and ask yourself:
“Can God trust me?”
Before you preach holiness, PRACTICE HOLINESS.
Before you lay hands on others, KEEP YOUR HANDS HOLY.
Before you ask people to repent, REPENT OF THE LUST INSIDE YOU.
These questions may be uncomfortable, but discomfort can be better than destruction. It is better to confront yourself privately than to be exposed publicly.
SECRET SINS ALWAYS BECOME PUBLIC SCANDALS
There is no such thing as permanent hidden sin. God exposes what we refuse to confront.
The young girls this minister corrupted are living with silent trauma. The abortions he sponsored are shouting against him in the spirit. Every time he stood on the altar, he carried blood on his hands.
Let this sink into your heart today.
The souls you destroy in secret will one day testify against you openly.
The consequences of sexual sin are not limited to the person committing it. When a minister abuses trust, particularly where young or vulnerable people are involved, the damage can extend into their emotions, relationships, faith, family life, and understanding of God.
This is why ministers must never use their position to satisfy their desires. Spiritual authority must never become a cover for manipulation. A person who comes for counseling, mentorship, prayer, discipleship, or spiritual guidance must never become an opportunity for sexual gratification.
The altar should never become a hunting ground.
The counseling room should never become a secret place for immoral relationships.
The pulpit should never become a shield for private corruption.
LUST WILL ALWAYS DESTROY WHAT YOU REFUSE TO DISCIPLINE
Many ministers are not falling suddenly. They are falling gradually.
A little flirting. A small inappropriate chat. A secret link saved for later. A little touching that “doesn’t mean anything.” A small compromise here and there.
Then one day, the entire ministry collapses.
The altar is polluted. The mic is polluted. The testimony is polluted. The soul is polluted.
Everything starts dying.
This is how compromise often works. It rarely announces itself as destruction in the beginning. It often comes quietly. It starts with something that appears harmless, something that can easily be explained away.
“It was just a message.”
“It was only a conversation.”
“We were only joking.”
“It didn’t mean anything.”
But repeated compromise slowly weakens resistance. What once produced conviction eventually becomes normal. What once caused fear eventually becomes familiar.
That is why the battle must be won at the beginning.
Do not wait until the secret chat becomes an affair. Do not wait until emotional attachment becomes sexual immorality. Do not wait until temptation becomes a scandal.
Deal with it while it is still small.
THERE IS A WAY OUT
If you are a minister struggling with lust, don’t hide. Don’t pretend. Don’t cover it with anointing. Don’t drown it with ministry activities.
Satan destroys faster when you hide your sin.
There is no victory in pretending that you are stronger than you really are. There is no healing in maintaining a religious appearance while your private life is collapsing.
The first step toward restoration is honesty.
You must be willing to admit that you are struggling. You must be willing to stop making excuses. You must be willing to confront the patterns, relationships, habits, environments, and opportunities that keep feeding the problem.
You cannot heal what you refuse to acknowledge.
YOUR WAY BACK TO GOD - THE ROAD OF RESTORATION
Sometimes the most painful thing about falling is not the fall itself, but the shame that follows.
Shame tells you that God has abandoned you. Shame whispers that you are no longer worthy. Shame convinces you that you cannot rise again.
But hear this clearly:
There is a way back.
There is always a path home for a wounded soldier who still desires God. And that path begins with these steps.
1. CONFESS TO GOD SINCERELY
There is nothing more damaging than pretending before God. Nothing keeps a man in bondage longer than forming strength he does not have.
When you fall, do not wear a mask. Do not package your words. Do not recite religious lines. God is not moved by grammar.
He is moved by brokenness.
A sincere confession means opening your heart exactly as it is. Tell Him where you went. Tell Him what you did. Tell Him what you feel. Tell Him why you are struggling.
Cry if you must. Break if you must. Let the weight leave your chest.
Forgiveness is not hard with God, but honesty is the key that unlocks it.
If you hide it, it will control you. If you expose it, it will lose power.
Confession does not mean pretending that consequences disappear. True repentance means accepting responsibility and being willing to make things right where possible. If other people have been harmed, restoration may require more than private prayer. It may require accountability, stepping away from leadership, accepting correction, and respecting the healing process of those who were hurt.
2. SHUT DOWN EVERY AVENUE OF TEMPTATION
Prayers cannot help a man who is still feeding his temptation.
Delete that number. Block that sister. Cut off that secret chat. Deactivate that fake account. Unfollow that page. Stay away from familiar traps.
You cannot cast out a demon you are still flirting with.
If you truly want restoration, you must make radical decisions. Your phone, your environment, your associations, these things can either deliver you or destroy you.
A man who wants purity must intentionally seal every opening the enemy once used.
Sometimes people pray for deliverance while protecting the very environment that keeps pulling them back into the same behavior. They ask God to remove the temptation while continuing to feed it through private conversations, secret browsing, inappropriate relationships, fantasy, pornography, or emotional attachments.
You cannot keep watering what you are asking God to uproot.
If a relationship repeatedly causes you to compromise, create distance. If certain online content constantly awakens lust, remove it. If certain places and situations weaken your discipline, avoid them.
Wisdom is not merely knowing what is wrong. Wisdom is knowing what you must stay away from.
3. TAKE A BREAK FROM MINISTRY
This is where many people fail.
They continue ministering because they fear losing relevance, honor, or position. But no matter how anointed you are, you cannot minister effectively when your soul is sick.
Sit down.
Pause.
Heal.
A wounded warrior can still fight, but he cannot fight well. A guilty preacher may still preach, but his spirit will be dry. A bleeding minister may continue laying hands, but his own heart will remain chained.
Stepping back is not weakness. It is wisdom.
A short break may save your destiny.
There are times when the most spiritual thing a minister can do is stop performing publicly and allow God to work privately. Ministry should never become a hiding place from repentance.
If your private life is in serious disorder, your first responsibility should not be protecting your platform. Your first responsibility should be confronting what is wrong.
The microphone can wait.
The healing of the soul cannot be postponed forever.
4. REBUILD YOUR SECRET PLACE
Lust grows where the altar is dry.
The stronger your secret place, the weaker your lust. Your private fire determines your public strength.
Return to prayer. Return to worship. Return to study. Return to communion.
It won’t feel easy at first, but consistency will restore your passion.
Do not rebuild your secret place merely because you want to preach again. Rebuild it because you want to know God again.
There is a difference.
A person can pray because he wants his ministry restored, while God wants his heart restored. A person can fast because he wants power, while God wants purity. A person can study Scripture because he needs another sermon, while God wants to transform the preacher before he transforms the audience.
Let the secret place become a place of honesty again.
Let prayer become more than preparation for the next service. Let worship become more than something you lead other people into. Let Scripture search you before you use Scripture to search others.
5. CONFESS TO YOUR WIFE AND TRUSTED CHURCH ELDERS
Hiding prolongs bondage.
Every sin that is kept in secret grows teeth. It digs deeper roots. It gains more power.
Freedom begins the moment light enters the room, because sin loses strength in the presence of truth.
If you are married, your healing must include your wife. She is not just a partner; she is your covenant companion. She has shared your joy, your tears, your battles, and your victories. She also deserves the honesty of knowing what you are fighting.
Confession is painful, yes, but pretending is worse. Pretending keeps your marriage bleeding quietly. Truth, though hard, gives it a chance to breathe again.
But confession must be done with humility, not defensiveness. Not “It happened because you were distant.” Not “It was a mistake; let’s just move on.”
Go to her with brokenness. With repentance. With the understanding that your actions wounded a soul God entrusted to your care. Give her time, space, and support to process. Healing is not instant, but God is faithful.
After your wife, you must also approach trusted, mature, godly church elders.
Not gossipers. Not shallow leaders. Not people who will mock your weakness.
Look for men who fear God, who live clean, who can rebuke you with love, pray with depth, counsel with wisdom, and guide you back into restoration.
Accountability is not punishment; it is protection.
God places spiritual authorities in your life not to shame you but to strengthen you. Their oversight becomes a shield. Their prayers become a covering. Their correction becomes a guardrail that keeps you from falling into the same pit.
When a man confesses both at home and in the spiritual community God planted him in, two powerful things happen.
First, the devil loses his legal ground.
Secrecy is Satan’s oxygen; once the light comes, he suffocates.
Second, your heart begins to heal.
Grace flows faster toward the humble than toward the silent.
Confession is not a sign that you’re finished; it’s a sign that you’re finally ready to rise.
PLEASE GET ACCOUNTABILITY
Isolation is the graveyard of purity.
You need someone who can rebuke you without fear. Someone who is not impressed by your gift. Someone who is not intimidated by your calling. Someone who can say, “You are wrong. Fix this.”
Accountability keeps you safe.
It keeps you humble. It keeps you watchful.
No man rises alone.
The person holding you accountable should not be someone you can easily manipulate or impress. It should be someone mature enough to ask difficult questions and courageous enough to confront you when necessary.
Accountability should involve honesty, consistency, boundaries, and follow-through. It is not enough to confess today and disappear tomorrow. Restoration requires a pattern of changed behavior.
6. FAST OFTEN, PRAY DEEPLY, SEEK PURITY INTENTIONALLY
Holiness does not come by accident.
Purity is pursued. Discipline is practiced.
Fasting weakens the flesh. Prayer strengthens the spirit. Consistency builds resistance.
Your calling is too great to be wasted on lust. Your destiny is too heavy to be destroyed by a moment of pleasure.
This is your way back.
Walk in it.
But remember that fasting and prayer are not substitutes for practical discipline. Spiritual practices should strengthen your commitment to righteous choices, not become a way of avoiding responsibility.
If your phone is the problem, change how you use your phone. If certain relationships are the problem, change your boundaries. If secrecy is the problem, embrace accountability. If ministry pressure is contributing to unhealthy behavior, learn to rest and seek wise counsel.
Spiritual strength and practical wisdom must walk together.
THE MINISTER MUST LEARN TO SAY NO
One of the greatest marks of maturity is the ability to say no before temptation becomes sin.
No to the private meeting that does not need to happen... No to the late-night conversation that has become emotionally intimate.
No to the message that should not be answered.. MNo to the image that should not be viewed.
No to the relationship that is slowly crossing boundaries... No to the opportunity that feeds your ego.
No to the secret that you would be ashamed for your wife, pastor, elders, or congregation to discover.
A minister who cannot say no to himself will eventually hurt people who trusted him.
Self-control is not weakness. Self-control is strength under discipline.
YOUR PRIVATE LIFE IS YOUR REAL MINISTRY
The world may know your sermons, but God knows your secret place.
People may know your title, but God knows your character.
People may know your public testimony, but God knows your private decisions.
The real ministry is not only what happens when the microphone is turned on. The real ministry also happens when the microphone is turned off.
It happens in your room.. It happens with your phone.. It happens in your conversations... It happens in your marriage.
It happens when temptation comes and nobody is there to applaud your decision to walk away.
That is where character is formed.
CONCLUSION
Dear minister... Choir leader..Evangelist...Pastor...BROTHER and Sister.
Deal with LUST before you hold the mic.
Because the mic will amplify who you are.
If you are pure, it will amplify purity. If you are corrupt, it will amplify corruption.
The church has endured too much damage. Too many scandals. Too many broken daughters. Too many wounded sheep.
Enough is enough.
If you want to be a role model, be a role model in secret first.
If you want to preach purity, practice purity.
If you want to hold the mic, first hold your flesh and crucify it.
The kingdom is holy. The altar is holy. The mic is holy. The calling is holy.
Don’t let lust destroy what God wants to build through you.
Deal with lust before you hold the mic.
Before the mic exposes you. Before heaven judges you... Before hell celebrates your downfall.
Your destiny is too precious to be wasted on your trousers.
Choose discipline. Choose purity. Choose repentance. Choose holiness... And may God give you victory where many men have fallen.
A FINAL WORD TO EVERY MINISTER
Do not read this article and immediately think about another minister.
Let the first person this message confront be you.
Do not ask, “Who is this talking about?”
Ask, “Lord, is there anything in me that I need to surrender?”
Do not use this message as ammunition against somebody else. Use it as a mirror.
The greatest tragedy would be to read about another man's fall, condemn him, discuss his scandal, and then return to your own secret compromise.
The purpose of warning is not condemnation. The purpose of warning is prevention.
If you are still standing, thank God, but do not become careless.
If you are struggling, seek help.
If you have fallen, repent.
If you have hurt someone, take responsibility.
If you have been hiding, come into the light.
If you have lost your spiritual fire, return to the secret place.
And if you are not ready to hold the microphone yet, there is no shame in putting it down until your character can carry what your calling requires.
The microphone can wait.. The altar can wait.. The platform can wait.. Your soul is more important.. Your character is more important.. Your relationship with God is more important.
Deal with lust before you hold the mic.
Because ministry is not merely about how loudly you can preach.
It is about whether your life can carry the message your mouth is proclaiming.
Let your private life agree with your public message.. Let your character agree with your calling.. Let your holiness agree with your preaching.
And let the man behind the microphone be the same man who walks with God when the microphone is gone.
The goal is not merely to hold the mic...The goal is to remain faithful after you have held it.
The goal is not merely to start well.. The goal is to finish well...
Deal with lust before you hold the mic.
