A SOBER TESTIMONY ABOUT ETERNITY, PURPOSE AND THE NEED TO LIVE FOR GOD
There are testimonies that entertain us for a moment, and there are testimonies that force us to stop and examine our lives. This is one of those accounts.
The testimony of Sister Fanny is presented as an encounter with eternity after she became seriously ill and, according to her account, died before finding herself on the other side of life. What she says she saw became a deeply disturbing warning about the reality of eternity, the responsibility that comes with spiritual gifts, the importance of Christian service, and the danger of becoming careless with the things of God.
Whether one reads an experience like this as a personal testimony, a spiritual warning, or an opportunity for biblical self-examination, one truth remains important: our lives should not be lived carelessly.
The Bible repeatedly reminds us that human life is temporary. We are not here forever. Our possessions will eventually be left behind, our positions will change, and our earthly achievements will one day become memories. What, then, are we doing with the life God has given us?
Jesus asked a question that remains relevant to every generation:
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" — Mark 8:36.
That question should make every believer pause.
Are we so busy pursuing money that we have neglected God?
Are we so occupied with our careers that we have forgotten our spiritual responsibilities?
Have we received gifts from God that we are not using?
Are we attending church but failing to live as representatives of Christ outside the church?
Are we asking God for more blessings while ignoring the responsibilities that come with the blessings we already have?
This testimony challenges us to examine those questions honestly.
It is not presented to create fear for the sake of fear. Rather, its central message is a call to wake up, return to God, examine our priorities, and live with eternity in view.
The testimony begins with a woman who became seriously ill and believed she had crossed the boundary between life and death.
THE JOURNEY TO ETERNITY
My name is Sister Fanny, a member of Deeper Life Bible Church.
I became sick, and at a time, my condition became worse.
As a result of shortage of blood, the colour of my blood changed. I stopped breathing, which means I died. At that moment, I began the journey to eternity.
Suddenly, I found myself standing between a broad and narrow way.
At that place, I saw many people rushing through the broad way, while only three people passed through the narrow way.
The scene immediately reminds us of the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:13-14:
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
The significance of these words should not be lost on us.
Jesus never described the Christian journey as a path of convenience. He described it as a narrow way.
The narrow way requires obedience.
It requires self-denial.
It requires faithfulness.
It requires a willingness to follow Christ even when the world is moving in another direction.
STANDING BEFORE THE JUDGMENT SEAT
In the next stage, I found myself standing before the Judgment Seat of God.
I saw a crowd of angels worshipping God. They were saying:
"You are Worthy, You are Worthy, You are Worthy."
Two angels from the crowd confronted me with two books in their hands.
One of the angels opened the book with the inscription, "The Book of Life."
With speed, he turned the pages of the book to the end, but my name was not found in the Book of Life.
He opened the second book with the inscription, "The Book of Death."
He also turned the pages very fast. He paused almost at the end of the book, looked at me, and called me by my name:
"Fanny, you were given three gifts."
The gifts were:
- Evangelism.
- Singing.
- Teaching.
The angel then told her that she had not done well with those gifts. Instead, she had devoted herself to secular teaching because of material things.
This part of the testimony raises an important question for every believer:
What are you doing with what God has placed in your hands?
GOD GIVES GIFTS FOR A PURPOSE
Not everyone has the same gift.
Some people can teach.
Some can preach.
Some can sing.
Some can evangelize.
Some can encourage the brokenhearted.
Some can give generously.
Some can organize.
Some can serve quietly without ever standing behind a pulpit.
The important thing is not whether your gift looks impressive. The important thing is whether you are using what God has given you faithfully.
Paul wrote:
"As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." — 1 Peter 4:10.
A gift is also a responsibility.
If God has given you the ability to teach, teach faithfully.
If He has given you the ability to sing, use your voice to glorify Him.
If He has given you a passion for evangelism, reach people.
If He has given you financial resources, use them wisely and generously.
If He has given you influence, use that influence for good.
Never assume that your gift belongs entirely to you.
THE VALUE OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE
According to the testimony, the angel questioned Sister Fanny about her attendance at church services, Bible study, mid-week service, evangelism, follow-up, and visitation.
The testimony describes specific scores and measurements given to these activities.
However, it is important to approach such details carefully. Scripture does not teach that salvation is earned through attendance percentages or that God literally grades every Christian using the numerical scoring system described in this testimony.
Salvation is by God's grace through faith, not by accumulating religious points.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Nevertheless, the underlying warning remains valuable: do not become careless about your commitment to God.
Church attendance cannot save a person, but a genuine relationship with Christ should produce a desire to fellowship with believers, hear God's Word, worship, pray, serve, and grow.
Hebrews 10:25 encourages believers not to forsake assembling together.
The question should therefore not simply be, "How many services have I attended?"
A deeper question is:
"What kind of believer am I becoming?"
LATENESS AND THE DANGER OF CARELESSNESS
The testimony states that Sister Fanny was considered absent because she arrived three minutes after the stated starting time.
This particular detail should not be interpreted as a universal biblical rule that arriving three minutes late to church makes a Christian spiritually absent.
However, it can serve as a reminder about the attitude we have toward the things of God.
If someone can arrive early for work because their employer expects punctuality, but repeatedly treats church and spiritual commitments casually, it may be worth examining the priorities of the heart.
God deserves reverence.
Our worship should not be approached carelessly.
Ecclesiastes 5:1 says:
"Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God."
The larger lesson is not about a stopwatch.
It is about honour.
EVANGELISM, FOLLOW-UP AND VISITATION
The testimony also emphasizes evangelism, follow-up, and visitation.
These are important aspects of Christian service.
Jesus did not save us merely so that we could sit comfortably in church until the end of our lives.
He commanded His disciples to go and make disciples.
Matthew 28:19 says:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
Evangelism is therefore not merely the responsibility of pastors and evangelists.
Every believer has a responsibility to represent Christ.
Your neighbour may need to hear about Jesus.
Your colleague may need encouragement.
A family member may need someone to pray with them.
A friend may be quietly struggling with something nobody knows about.
Sometimes the person God wants you to reach is already standing beside you.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR GIFTS?
One of the strongest questions raised by this testimony is not about church attendance.
It is about stewardship.
What are you doing with your gifts?
Perhaps you can preach but rarely preach.
Perhaps you can teach but have buried your gift.
Perhaps you can sing but use your voice only for entertainment.
Perhaps you have the gift of encouragement but spend most of your time criticizing people.
Perhaps God has given you resources, influence, education, connections, or opportunities, yet you use everything exclusively for yourself.
Jesus taught about stewardship through several parables.
In Matthew 25, the servant who received five talents was praised because he put what he had received to work.
The lesson is powerful:
God cares about what we do with what He has entrusted to us.
THE QUESTION OF TITHE AND OFFERING
The testimony also speaks about tithes and offerings.
Giving is certainly an important biblical principle. Scripture teaches believers to give generously, willingly, and cheerfully.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says:
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
At the same time, Christian giving should never be reduced to a spiritual transaction in which someone gives money simply to purchase God's favour.
ALSO READ: Tithe Payment Is Important For Every Genuine Christian
We do not buy salvation.
We do not purchase forgiveness.
We do not bribe God with offerings.
Giving should flow from love, gratitude, obedience, and a desire to support God's work and help others.
The real question is not merely, "How much did I give?"
It is also:
"What kind of heart did I have when I gave?"
THE WARNING OF BEING FOUND WANTING
According to the testimony, the angel asked Sister Fanny whether, as a teacher, she would pass a student who scored such low marks.
She answered, "No."
The angel then confronted her with the issue of being found wanting.
The testimony connects this moment with Daniel 5:27:
"TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting."
These words were spoken in the context of Belshazzar's judgment.
They remind us that God sees beyond appearances.
A person may impress people and still have serious spiritual weaknesses.
A person may have a respected position and still be spiritually careless.
A person may know many Bible verses and still refuse to obey God.
A person may be active in church and yet neglect the condition of the heart.
This is why self-examination is so important.
Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 13:5:
"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves."
"YOU ARE AN UNFAITHFUL SERVANT"
The other angel who had been silent said with a loud voice:
"You are an unfaithful servant, take her to hell."
When I heard that voice, I was terrified.
I wished I could disappear or escape, but there was nowhere to hide or escape.
I wept bitterly before the angels, pleading for mercy.
Unfortunately, their faces remained motionless.
They were not moved by my tears and weeping.
As I continued crying and pleading for a second chance, the angel who was talking to me said:
"Show her Hell."
I saw many people crying bitterly in hell.
Ten strokes of a whip were given to me as a warning for being an unfaithful servant.
The whip was so painful that I was shouting instead of crying.
As I continued pleading for a second chance while weeping, the angel said to me:
"Go back to the world and amend your ways."
At that moment, I woke up shouting:
"Fire! Fire! Fire!"
The heat of hellfire was so terrible that I could not understand the pain.
WHAT IF TODAY WERE YOUR LAST DAY?
This is where we should pause.
Not to argue about every detail of the testimony.
Not to compete over whether someone has had a similar experience.
Not even to focus only on the frightening description of judgment.
Instead, ask yourself a more important question:
If you knew you had only a short time left to live, what would you change?
Would you continue holding that unforgiveness?
Would you continue living in secret sin?
Would you continue postponing your calling?
Would you continue saying, "I will serve God later"?
Would you continue allowing material things to consume all your time?
Would you continue neglecting your family?
Would you continue refusing to forgive?
Would you continue living as though eternity does not exist?
James 4:14 reminds us that our life is like a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
That should change the way we live.
DO NOT MAKE MATERIAL THINGS YOUR MASTER
One of the warnings in this testimony concerns the danger of choosing material things over spiritual responsibilities.
There is nothing inherently wrong with working, building a career, running a business, earning money, or pursuing legitimate success.
The problem begins when material success becomes more important than God.
Jesus said:
"No man can serve two masters." — Matthew 6:24.
Money is a useful servant but a terrible master.
Your job is important.
Your business is important.
Your education is important.
Your family responsibilities are important.
But none of these should become an idol that completely replaces God.
The question is not whether you should work.
The question is whether your work has become your god.
YOUR CHRISTIANITY MUST GO BEYOND CHURCH ATTENDANCE
It is possible to attend church regularly and still fail to represent Christ outside the church.
Christianity is not simply sitting in a congregation.
It is living as a representative of Christ wherever you go.
At work.
At home.
In your business.
On social media.
Among friends.
In your marriage.
In your conversations.
When nobody is watching.
Jesus said:
"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." — John 13:35.
Your Christianity should be visible in your character.
People should see honesty.
Love.
Forgiveness.
Humility.
Self-control.
Compassion.
Integrity.
Faithfulness.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE JUDGMENT DAY TO CHANGE
One of the most dangerous things a person can do is postpone repentance.
"I will change later."
"I will serve God when I am older."
"I will stop this sin eventually."
"I will reconcile with that person someday."
"I will start evangelizing when my business becomes successful."
"I will pray more when life becomes easier."
But nobody is guaranteed tomorrow.
Proverbs 27:1 says:
"Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."
If something needs to change, begin now.
If you need to apologize, do it.
If you need to repent, repent.
If you need to return to prayer, return.
If you have neglected your Bible, open it again.
If you have abandoned your calling, ask God for wisdom about how to begin again.
If you have become spiritually cold, do not pretend that everything is fine.
Return to God.
15 LESSONS FROM THIS TESTIMONY
1. TAKE ETERNITY SERIOUSLY
Life is temporary, but eternity is not. Live with the awareness that your earthly journey has an ending.
2. DO NOT BURY YOUR GOD-GIVEN GIFTS
Whatever God has entrusted to you should be developed and used faithfully.
3. DO NOT ALLOW MATERIAL THINGS TO REPLACE GOD
Work and financial success are important, but they should never become idols.
4. CHRISTIANITY REQUIRES FAITHFULNESS
Being a Christian is not merely carrying a Bible or attending church. It involves following Christ in everyday life.
5. EVANGELISM MATTERS
Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples. Look for opportunities to introduce people to Christ.
6. YOUR NEIGHBOUR NEEDS YOUR LOVE
Matthew 22:39 commands us to love our neighbour as ourselves. Ask yourself how you can practically demonstrate that love.
7. ACCOUNTABILITY MATTERS
Do not live as though nobody needs to know how you are doing spiritually. Healthy Christian relationships can help us grow.
8. DO NOT NEGLECT FELLOWSHIP
Church attendance does not earn salvation, but believers are encouraged to fellowship, worship, learn, and grow together.
9. YOUR CHARACTER MATTERS
God is not interested only in what people see publicly. He also cares about the hidden condition of the heart.
10. USE YOUR TIME WISELY
Time is one of the greatest resources God gives us. Once it is gone, it cannot be recovered.
11. DO NOT LIVE CARELESSLY
Small compromises can eventually develop into serious spiritual problems. Guard your heart.
12. EXAMINE YOUR PRIORITIES
Ask yourself what receives most of your attention, energy, money, and time.
13. ASK GOD TO SEARCH YOUR HEART
Psalm 139:23-24 says:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me."
14. REPENT QUICKLY
Do not allow pride to keep you in a wrong condition. When you recognize sin, return to God.
15. LIVE TODAY WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW
Do not wait for a frightening experience before you take your spiritual life seriously. Scripture has already given us enough warning.
CONCLUSION
The testimony of Sister Fanny ends with a warning:
"Go back to the world and amend your ways."
That sentence should not be directed only at Sister Fanny.
It should become a question for every reader.
What needs to be amended in your life?
Perhaps your prayer life.
Perhaps your priorities.
Perhaps your character.
Perhaps your attitude toward church.
Perhaps your relationship with your family.
Perhaps your secret habits.
Perhaps your commitment to evangelism.
Perhaps your use of your God-given gifts.
Perhaps your relationship with God itself.
The purpose of hearing a warning is not merely to become frightened. The purpose is to respond.
Jesus did not call us to live in constant terror. He called us to remain watchful, faithful, obedient, and ready.
The Bible says:
"Watch therefore: for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." — Matthew 25:13.
Do not wait until your life is ending before you discover what truly matters.
Do not wait until you lose everything before you realize that God was more valuable than what you were chasing.
Do not wait until your strength is gone before you begin using your gifts.
Do not wait until tomorrow to make peace with God.
Today is the day to examine your life.
Today is the day to return.
Today is the day to surrender.
Today is the day to serve.
Today is the day to forgive.
Today is the day to pursue holiness.
Today is the day to begin living with eternity in view.
Whether you understand Sister Fanny's experience as a literal spiritual encounter, a testimony, or a powerful warning meant to provoke reflection, do not miss the central message:
Life is temporary. Eternity is real. Our choices matter. Our gifts matter. Our character matters. And our relationship with God matters most.
May God give us grace to live faithfully, serve Him sincerely, use our gifts wisely, love people genuinely, and finish our earthly journey well.
